Day of the Black Sea fleet is an annual festival celebrating 13 may in honor of the Black Sea fleet.

The day was established in 1996. 8 April 1783 was issued a manifesto of Empress Catherine joining of Crimea to Russia.

But two months after joining of Crimea to Russia Catherine II signed a decree on the Black Sea fleet. 13 March 1783 in Ahtiarsk Bay of the Black Sea fleet is composed of 11 ships under the command of Admiral Azov Fedota Klokačeva.

21 February 1784 Decree of Catherine II the city was given the name Ahtiaru Sevastopol. In translation from the Greek word "Sevastopol" means "majestic." Soon the city and port Sevastopol became the main bases of Russian Black Sea fleet.
